Employsouthdakota.com is a job aggregator for South Dakota region. They wanted to aggregate jobs directly from the job portals of corporations operating in the local area. They wanted the jobs to be imported natively within WordPress so that it is searchable and can be formatted via their theme.
We wanted to aggregate jobs directly via the career pages of these corporations. Most career pages are powered by ATS software which do not provide a structured job feed. Hence we had to create a job feed by scraping and parsing the career pages. We used Kimono to create the parser and create a live job feed directly from the source.
For importing the job feed, we used WP All Import along with their WP Job Manager add-on. Using this approach, all newly posted jobs are imported as the custom post type ‘job’ within WordPress. Here’s a more detailed insight into this implementation:
- Used Kimono to create a structured feed from the Sanford Health career page
- Set-up cron scheduling to import jobs with a set-frequency.
- Used WP Job Manager to display jobs on theme front-end.
